Moses entered not the Promised Land. Though he took the children of Israel from Egypt through the wilderness, he could not enter the Promised Land. Why?
In the Book of Numbers we are told what happened for Moses not to enter the Promised Land
Num 20:7-11: And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, ‘Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink’. And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
Num 20:12: And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron, ‘Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them’.
When I was deeply meditating upon this issue the Holy Spirit come upon me swiftly, clothed me and taught me this,
Why Moses Entered Not the Promised Land – Law vs GRACE
Moses presents the Law
John 1:17: For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ
The children of Israel from Egypt through the wilderness to the Promised Land is a picture of the church from cross through world (wilderness) to the Promised Land heaven.
In the Bible, the law does not enter church into the Promised Land heaven
Gal 4:30: … Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman
See Abraham allegory (Gal 4:21-31)
Since Moses presented the law, he could not enter the Promised Land a foreshadow that Law cannot enter people into heaven the Promised Land
After Moses came Joshua.
‘Joshua’ in Hebrew is ‘Yehoshua’ or ‘Yahoshua’ which means ‘Yahweh is salvation’
‘Jesus’ is the English of the Greek transliteration of ‘Yehoshua’ via Latin
Joshua the son of Nun was a foreshadow of Jesus reason both have same names
Joshua took over after Moses and took the children of Israel to the Promised Land – a picture of Jesus taking over after the Law to take the church to the Promised Land heaven.
It is Jesus who abolished the Law by nailing it on the cross and saved us from it
Col 2:14: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross
Eph 2:15: Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances
Heb 8:13 …He has made the first obsolete
Why are we saved from the Laws?
Because we cannot fulfill them and for us to get into heaven, our righteousness must exceeded the righteousness attained by the Law
Mt 5:20: For I say unto you, ‘That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven’
The only righteousness which exceeds righteousness of the Law is Jesus Christ righteousness – the robe of righteousness
Law only leads you to the cross and after the cross you should take Jesus Christ (GRACE)
Gal 3:24: Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ
See GRACE
Many people will not enter heaven because they have chosen the Law not grace – they have denied the price paid on the cross
Many people come up to the cross with the Law but after the cross they still want to continue in grace with the Law – You cannot mix old wine to new wineskins
Mk 2:22: And no man puts new wine into old wineskins: else the new wine burst the wineskins, and the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined
You cannot mix Law and Grace neither can GRACE be in a person holding on to the Law
Jesus is GRACE and it is only Him who can take us to the Promised Land heaven
John 14:6: Jesus said unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me’
Only Joshua took the children of Israel to the Promised Land – only Jesus will take the church to heaven. Moses could not enter because he presents the Law – it was a foreshadow unto us
When you come to the cross, nail the Law (bondage) on the cross and take GRACE (freedom)
