Tithe like Abraham not to receive but to thank God for what He has done. Abraham was a man of faith and those of faith must tithe like Abraham.
Abraham lived not in an era of the law because the law came by Moses – Moses came many years after Abraham.
After the law by Moses came grace and truth by Jesus Christ.
John 1:17: For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Abraham lived by faith not by law; He is the man of faith.
Gal 3:9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith
Abraham has two descendants;
- By birth
- By faith
- By birth
Descendants of Abraham by birth are the Jews; the children of Israel. It is them who were given the Law by Moses. They live by obeying the Law.
- By faith
Descendants of Abraham by faith are gentiles (non-Jews) who have great faith in the God of Abraham.
Gal 3:7: Know you therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
Children of faith live by faith not by the law
Heb 10:38: Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man drawback, my soul shall have no pleasure in him
They are righteous by faith like Abraham. See righteousness
Jesus Christ has no pleasure in any man who draws away from faith (Heb 10:38). See the 3 levels of faith
Abraham lived by faith so are his descendants; the children of faith. They are they who are of Grace – who accept the price paid on the cross by Jesus. See Grace – God’s Riches At Christ Expense
Law came by Moses and ends on the cross – law was nailed on the cross
Col 2:14: Blotting out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross
Grace by Jesus Christ starts on the cross and ends in rapture of His bride. After the rapture, you will have to pay the price by your own blood to enter heaven otherwise hell.
Everything in the Bible that lies between exodus and Jesus on the cross is of the Law though Jesus taught the church grace immediately before crucifixion. Everything from the cross to rapture is grace.
Abraham did not live by the Law of Moses but by faith as it is in grace.
Tithing by law and tithing by faith is different.
Tithe Like Abraham Not To Receive But to Thank
The first mention of tithe in the Bible is with Abraham a man of faith before the law came by Moses.
When Abraham heard his brother Lot was taken captive, He went in pursuit
Gen 14:14: And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
He brought back all goods as well as Lot
Gen 14:16: And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
Two kings went to meet Abraham in the valley of shaveh after his return; King of Sodom and Melchizedek King of Salem
Gen 14:17-18: And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
Melchizedek is in likeness of Jesus Christ while King of Sodom is in likeness of Satan
After Melchizedek blessed the Most High God, Abraham gave Him a tithe of all.
Gen 14:20: ‘And blessed be the Most High God, who has delivered your enemies into thy hand’. And he gave him tithes of all.
King of Sodom asked Abraham for the persons; in other words – souls
Gen 14:21: And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, ‘Give me the persons, and take the goods to yourself’
King of Sodom is in likeness of Satan. The only thing Satan wants is the souls; he wants your soul nothing else. You can take everything to yourself as long as you give him your soul.
What do we see in Abraham tithing?
- Abraham tithed after all his enemies were delivered into his hands and after he brought back all good and even Lot
- Abraham tithed not to be blessed; Melchizedek king of Salem blessed the Most High God not Abraham
- Abraham did not exchange souls for goods with King of Salem (Satan)
Levitical priesthood was a priesthood of law while Melchizedek priesthood is a priesthood of freedom; grace and faith
Jesus Christ our priest forever is in the order of Melchizedek not the Levitical priesthood.
Heb 7:17: For he testifies, ‘you are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek’
Heb 7:11: If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Jesus priesthood like Melchizedek is a priesthood of grace not like Levitical priesthood of law reason Jesus could not come as a priest in order of Levitical priesthood.
Melchizedek was a priest without mother or father neither a genealogy like Jesus Christ; unlike the Levitical priesthood of Aaron.
Heb 7:2-3: To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abides a priest continually.
Jesus Christ is a priest in likeness of Melchizedek
Heb 7:15: And it is yet far more evident: for that after the likeness of Melchizedek there arise another priest
Heb 7:17: For he testifies, ‘you are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek’
What does this mean?
Abraham, a man of faith living by faith tithed to Melchizedek the likeness of Jesus Christ not to the Levitical priesthood; we can say Abraham gave his tithe to Jesus Christ.
It is for this reason tithing by faith as done by Abraham is different from tithing in Levitical priesthood according to the Law. How?
- By law you tithe to receive, by faith you tithe to thank
- By law you tithe for blessings, by faith you are already blessed
- In the law, tithes were given to Levitical priesthood but in faith (grace) tithe are given to Melchizedek priesthood; Jesus Christ
Abraham did not tithe for blessings because He was already blessed; remember God earlier had promised blessings and blessed Him. Even Melchizedek did not bless Abraham but blessed the Most High God (Gen 14:20).
Children of Abraham by faith do not need to tithe for blessings because they already have Abraham’s blessings.
Gal 3:14: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith
Rom 4:16: Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all
We are already blessed along with Abraham
Gal 3:9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith
We only need to seek the kingdom of God (Jesus Christ) and all will be added to us
Mt 6:33: But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you
We tithe to thank God for everything He has done to us not to receive because He has already given us all – have faith and believe.
To Abraham, blessings came before tithe but in today’s church it’s the opposite – blessings come by tithe. How then can they claim to be of the seed of Abraham?
Do you think it is not a blessing for God to wake you up each and every day? How many sleep and don’t wake up? Can you tithe every day for this? We take God’s blessings for granted and only think blessings are cars, money and worldly things; evil generation indeed!
Thank Jesus Christ for everything He has done to you; it is a blessing.
I am blessed even before I tithe and I cannot tithe for blessings. God waking me up each morning alive is a blessing – if I am to tithe, how much can I tithe to receive this?
Salvation to me is a blessing. How much can I tithe to receive it? No tithe can get you salvation except the price paid on the cross by Jesus Christ. Can you compare you tithe and Jesus on the cross?
Remember, Abraham was blessed not because he tithed but because he had faith in God.
If tithes can buy blessings, they could have done it to Abraham but they couldn’t and cannot. God blesses in His own Will and blesses whoever He wishes with or without tithing.
Grace is a covenant of love. Love is not giving 10% but 100%. If you truly love Jesus Christ, you will indeed give Him all.
Even if you cannot accept the difference between Law and Grace nor understand it, understand this; If you are a descendant of Abraham by faith, tithe like Abraham to thank not to receive.
Many people today are ready to give Satan their souls and go with all goods – remember Satan owns this worldly and many people ask for world not heavenly blessings and Satan comes fast to give them what he owns.
In faith, you tithe like Abraham to thank God not to receive. You are already blessed along with Abraham by faith.
Many people who fight for tithing and tell us how they tithe in reality they themselves are unable to fulfill/obey it yet they want other people to come tithe as law like them. Many do not give 10% of everything and many forget to tithe. Have they not then sinned according to the law? (next teaching).
