What is the kingdom of heaven?
There are 3 kingdoms;
- Kingdoms of the world,
- The kingdom of darkness (Satan) and
- The kingdom of heaven
World kingdoms are kingdoms of men
Both, kingdoms of the world and kingdom of darkness are ruled by Satan.
It is for this reason Satan was able to offer Jesus all the kingdoms of the world when tempting Him because he rules them – they are Satan’s.
Mt 4:8-9: Again, the devil took Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them. And said unto Him, ‘All these things will I give thee, if you will fall down and worship me’.
No person offers what s/he does not have or what is not his/hers. Satan offered Jesus what is his – the kingdoms of the world. Satan cannot offer any person the kingdom of darkness. He lies to many that they will have part of his kingdom only to die and realize he was lying when in hell with him.
God revealed to Daniel the major 4 kingdoms of the world to rule the earth until Jesus comes down to set His kingdom. In order they are; Babylon Empire, Medes and Persian empire, Greece Empire and the Roman Empire. See Nebuchadnezzar dream and Daniel dream of 4 beasts.
Though these are the major kingdoms, there are many other smaller kingdoms in the world.
The god of the world and its kingdoms is Satan
2Cor 4:4: In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Satan is the ruler and prince of this world
John 12:31: Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out
Though Jesus created the earth, He does not rule it neither its kingdoms.
Every kingdom is ruled by a king
Jesus Christ is the King of the Kingdom of heaven.
Where is the Kingdom of heaven?
A kingdom is like a nation under a rulership of a president. President is the face of government. Where the president is, there is the government.
A king is the face of a kingdom. Where the king is, there is the kingdom.
The kingdom of heaven king is Jesus Christ. Where Jesus is, there is the Kingdom of heaven.
The question is; Where is Jesus?
God came on earth, dwelt among us (John 1:1-14), died on the cross, resurrected and ascended back into heaven.
Mk 16:19: So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God
Acts 1:9-10: And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel
The King of the kingdom of heaven, Jesus Christ, is in heaven. Therefore the kingdom of heaven is in heaven.
Apart from heaven, there is somewhere else the The King of the kingdom of heaven dwells – Remember, where the King is there is the kingdom.
Jesus Christ dwells in vessels build with no human hands.
Acts 7:48 However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands
Our bodies (human body) is the temple of Jesus Christ
1 Cor 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you
See our bodies are temples of God and God does not dwell in buildings
When we accepts Jesus Christ, the King comes down and dwells in us thus the kingdom of heaven dwells in us. This is in the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
John 14:23: Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, He will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make our home with him
Therefore the kingdom of heaven is found in people in whom the Holy Spirit dwells because the King (Jesus Christ) dwells in them and has made a home with them.
Not every person has the kingdom of heaven in him/her even those claiming to have it
The kingdom of heaven consists all of the following; joy, peace, patience, happiness, love, fear of God, righteousness, wisdom, understanding, purity, holiness, hate of evil, etc. You cannot lack these (and many more) in you and claim to have the kingdom of heaven.
On earth, the kingdom of heaven is only found in people in whom the King (Jesus Christ) dwells in. Though this people are in world, a kingdom ruled by Satan, themselves are not of the Satan kingdom but of the kingdom of heaven.
Who are you in the kingdom of heaven?
A kingdom has different groups of people. It has a King, sons and daughters, and servants. And so is the kingdom of heaven.
A servant is a person who labors for wages
Sons and daughters are heirs – they inherit
The kingdom of heaven has servants and has sons and daughters? The question is; who are you in the kingdom of heaven?
It is only a heir who inherits, a servant doesn’t.
Kingdom of heaven is at hand
Jesus instructed us to preach saying
Mt 10:7: And as ye go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand’
The kingdom of heaven is at hand – It is not yet here.
There are people who preach saying the kingdom of heaven is here. They do not know what the kingdom of heaven is. Though it dwells in few individuals, it is not yet here on earth (world). World is still Satan’s.
When the King (Jesus Christ) will descend from heaven the same way He ascended, He will execute judgment and He will set His kingdom on earth. The kingdom of heaven will be here on earth with humanity, Jesus being the King.
In setting His kingdom on earth, Jesus will destroy all kingdoms of the world, breaking them into pieces and consuming them as prophesied by Daniel
Dan 2:44: And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
There will be a new earth and a new heaven – these defiled ones will pass away
Rev 21:1-3: And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
When the King of the Kingdom of heaven (Jesus Christ) will rule, there shall be no more night, no lamp, no sun, for He will be the light. There will be no more pain, tears, sorrow, crying neither death (Rev 21, 22) – it will be as it is in heaven.
Because the kingdom of heaven is at hand not yet here, Jesus taught us to pray saying,
Your kingdom come (Mt 6:10)
You do not pray for the world but pray for the kingdom of heaven to come and pray for brethren in the world. World itself is under Satan and praying for it is in vain.
The kingdom of heaven is for the poor in spirit
Mt 5:3: Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
As there are 3 kingdoms, there are 3 types of gospels;
- Gospel of kingdoms of world (world gospel emphasizing of worldly prosperity)
- Gospel of kingdom of darkness
- Gospel of kingdom of heaven
Gospel of world and gospel of the kingdom of darkness is Satan gospel. Jesus Christ gospel is the gospel of the kingdom of heaven.
