This is my testimony of how God instructed me not to search for a job. It is part-1 of my life my testimony series.
Testimony of how Jesus physically appeared to me ends where I had done my last exams in university. I cannot forget the time; it was end of March 2011.
After my last exams, so sure I had done well, I was optimistic of the future. I was eagerly looking forward to getting a good job but I did not know that God had different plans for me.
Testimony of how God instructed me not to search for a job
Immediately after my exams as I prepared to search for a job, God came in a vision and instructed me with these unforgettable words, ‘Joshua! Do not to search for a job’.
He did not say anything else or what He had in store for me leaving me with many questions than answers.
The month of April 2011 ended obeying God’s instruction to me.
How I disobeyed God
When June came, pressure to search for a job started coming from my family.
By late June 2011, pressure from family and friends was excess for me to handle at that time and I made a decision to satisfy them.
I surely knew I was going against God and that I will never get a job but due to pressure which i could not handle at that time, I started searching.
I applied for so many Jobs, sending my CV to any job opening I could see. I could walk in the city all day armed with my CV and education papers in hand searching and applying for any job opening.
Family and friends chose to help me but all in vain. August 2011 was here, still jobless.
All this time, if I was not looking for a Job, I was listening to Bible studies and reading the Bible in my house alone (I stay alone).
Family and friends started blaming me for not putting enough effort to get a job. Sincerely, I was doing all I can.
At this time, the gap between my parents and I started broadening so fast and so much, and they became so angry with me.
By end August 2011, I was tired and worn out by both job searching and stress due to what was happening between my parents and I.
Immediately end of the August, God came again in a vision.
He told me that I have disobeyed Him by choosing to satisfy people and there are consequences. He also made a promise to me at that time.
Next are the consequences of I disobeying God followed by His promise to me.
I have come to understand why God did not want me to look for a Job. It is true that ‘we live life forward but we understand it backwards’. It is only God who knows our backward and forward.
God bless
