The eighth Commandment; you shall nor bear false witness against your neighbor, proclaims the splendor and the beauty of the truth. It is not often that we hear of the truth described in this way, but consider how precious and essential a foundation of truth is for our lives.
Effects of lack of truth
- No trust and relationships
Without truth there can be no trust, and without trust there can be no relationships. Many relationships today are built on a foundation of lies and when the truth comes out, it needs work to make the relationship stand or it will totally come down.
It is like building a house leaving spaces (lies) in the foundation. When sea waves, wind, or a slight earth tremor comes, the building cannot withstand but crumbles down.
- Cynicism and fear
Without the truth there is cynicism, fear, and an atmosphere of exclusion and secrecy. Without the truth, lives are ruined or lost by error and falsehood. Without the truth, countless men, women and children are misled by deceitful and destructive philosophies that sow confusion and error. Without the truth families, relationships and societies are destroyed.
Witness to the truth
We are to dedicate ourselves to the truth and to love it. We are to witness to it by word and deed. This is the truth of our faith, the truth which has set us free. This witness is a transmission of the faith in words and deeds. We must avoid all sins against the truth.
Truth is being fought in the world. Courts have been built, lawyers learning the world knowledge to pervert and deny the truth. What comes out in the media; the televisions, radios and internet is far away from the truth. The truth is rear in this world and only few men are remaining standing with the truth.
In Gods kingdom there is nothing like a ‘fool’s day’. This is satanic agenda to the world. There is no excuse of lying. If you have lied you have sinned and there is no specific day to lie or time to lie.
Jesus declared just how important and essential the truth is, by describing it as the fundamental purpose of his saving mission: For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. (John 18:37). Jesus also said, ‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free’ (John 8:31). Jesus is the truth and if you stand and love the truth, you are His.
The spirit of truth (Holy Spirit) does not stay or be were lies, gossips, rumors, propaganda are being peddled. So the time you are peddling a lie, the spirit of truth is not with you but the evil spirit as overtaken you.
Stand with the truth no matter what and ashame the devil. John 1:4: I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
Christian let us be watchful and always stand with the truth. The truth is the only light and the only key to freedom, and no matter how had you fight to stand with the truth, you will never be disappointed because He (Jesus) is the truth and the Spirit of Truth is with you.
1 John 3:18: My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Be blessed.
