Babylon
Babylon in the Bible represents;
1) The Babylon Empire of King Nebuchadnezzar
2) Empires or kingdoms of man not inline with the heavenly kingdom
3) The Roman Empire and all Satanic kingdoms
The Babylon Empire of king Nebuchadnezzar
The Babylon Empire was led by king Nebuchadnezzar him being the head of gold in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and the first beasts, which is a leopard with eagle wings, in Daniel’s vision of four beasts.
Since Babylon Empire was an absolute monarchy, after King Nebuchadnezzar, his son Belshazzar, took over as the King of Babylon.
It is during the reign of King Belshazzar when fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote on the wall of the king’s palace and the king saw it.
Dan 5:5: In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. The fingers wrote, ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN’.
This was a message from God to King Belshazzar meaning (Dan 5:26-28);
- MENE- God has numbered you kingdom, and finished it.
- TEKEL- Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
- PERES- Your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
The overthrow of the Babylon Empire by the Medes and Persians had already been revealed to Belshazzar’s father, King Nebuchadnezzar, in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. This was just a confirmation to king Belshazzar that Babylon will be overthrown by the Media and Persians.
In 530BC as you have seen in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, the Medes and Persians overthrew the Babylon Empire and the writings on the wall were fulfilled.

Man’s kingdoms not inline with the heavenly kingdom
Man in the world is busy building empires or kingdoms but the big question is; are the kingdoms inline with the heavenly kingdom? We spent a lot our life time looking for education, money, riches and wealth but do we acquire or build these kingdoms in Godly way and are they inline with God’s will?
Many people do not ask themselves these questions and they go on building their Babylon kingdoms without inquiring from God.
What you are building and acquiring not inline with God’s will and plan in your life and not acquired in a Godly way is a Babylon.
You will buy cars, houses, lands, acquire education, money etc but are these kingdoms inline with the heavenly kingdom? Have you acquired them in a Godly way? Do you use them to thank praise and worship God or they are idols to you? Are they inline with the will of God?
After building Babylon kingdoms, soon or later fingers of a man’s hand write on the walls of the kingdoms you have created and you see the hand has it writes, ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN’. You see signs of your businesses going down, money getting lost, your education becoming useless, your buildings and empires cracking ready to fall, roofs leaking, you start going bankrupt, etc, the writings are hard on the wall and you see them.
The writings are saying that the kingdoms your have spent your entire life time building are numbered and finished (MENE).
God has weighed them in the balances and are wanting thus not inline with the heavenly kingdom (TEKEL).
And your kingdoms will be divided and given to the Medes and Persians (UPHARSIANS).
See that the Babylon Empire led by king Nebuchadnezzar was an absolute monarchy thus Nebuchadnezzar gave it to his son but when it was weighed and found wanting, the kingdoms was not given to neither his sons after Belshazzar nor his people. The kingdoms he spent entire life time building was given to outsiders.Your kingdom will be given out to outsiders.
Your kingdoms may be divided and given out when you are still alive (you see the dividing and giving out) or like the rich man in the rich man parable. After you have acquired all what you think you need and want, even others you do not need, God calls you a fool.
He then takes away your soul (die) then your kingdoms are given out to the Medes and Persians (outsiders). These outsiders are neither people who helped you build the kingdoms nor your people. They are outsiders who are given the kingdom to enjoy what you have created and spent your energy and entire life building.
Apart from the dividing and giving out of your kingdom to the Medes and Persians (outsiders) there is still the ultimate judgement. This judgement will happen when Jesus comes back to judge the world; when the judge sits on the judgement seat.
All kingdoms you have acquired or build not inline with the heavenly kingdom will be judged within one hour. Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come (Rev 18:10).
And with fire your kingdoms will be burned and everything that is not inline with the heavenly kingdom will be reduced to smoke. Rev 18:18: And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
Even Christians are not spared in this judgement. All the kingdoms Christians have acquired or build not inline with the heavenly kingdom or the work for God they have done not the work of God will be reduced to smoke.
This will leave a Christian with only the kingdoms s/he has created which are inline with the heavenly kingdom and be crowned according to how worthy s/he has laid his treasure in heaven during his/her live on earth.
Some people will be poppers in heaven will others will be greatly rich. If you are a Christian, acquire or build kingdoms which are inline with the heavenly kingdom by laying your treasures in heaven.
The Roman Empire
From Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and Daniels vision of four beasts we see the New Resurrected Roman Empire (European Community) as the ten toes and the last beast, the same beast Apostle John in the Book of Revelation is talking of. The Antichrist will rise from the European Community as you have seen in the Daniel’s dream of four beasts.
In the Book of Revelation, The Roman Empire is referred to as, ‘MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH’.
Mysterious Babylon the great is the Roman Empire and she is the mother of harlots. The name harlot refers to a church that is involved in prostitution i.e. idolatry.
The Roman Empire i.e. the great Babylon is the mother of idolatry and she has a great harlot (whore) who is the Roman Catholic Church. …I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sited upon many waters (Rev 17:1).
I will talk more in details about the Roman Empire and Roman Catholic Church when studying the Book of Revelation.
The Roman Empire i.e. The European community and the Roman Catholic Church and all those who commit fornication with her will be judged within an hour (Rev 18:10).
