Life is more than money, clothing and food, the creator of man (God) states clearly that man’s. In today’s world, money, food and clothing have become the definition of life.
Jesus said,
Lk 12:22-30 …Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: for they neither sows nor reaps; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are you better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If you then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take you thought for the rest?
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so cloths the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he cloth you, O you of little faith? And seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be you of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that you have need of these things.
Clothing, food and money are the top worldly things which draw man away from God. In dangers of getting money, riches and wealth, God says it clearly how these three things chops off the word from man. And since He is the creator and He owns all, and that man is His most important creature with His image, man has nothing to worry about.
Let us be careful about coveting; wanting more than we want or already have. Let’s seek first the kingdom of heaven and the father will provide all to us. He is the creator and father of all in the earth and in the heaven; He owns all.
Lk 12:31-34 But rather seek you the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Life is more than money more on eternity
All this things on earth are just a sneak preview of the heaven. Abraham was rich in Ur but He realized there is a bigger better richness than He had on earth. He focused on the riches of heaven and yes! He got them. The things on earth do not give contentment or happiness or meet our needs. Do not put a lot on them nor be tugged in them.
Live and enjoy life, living for eternity, knowing that there is nothing you will take from the world but you can invest them in heaven. Be rich towards God. Heb 13:5: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.
You shall not covet is a command which warns us of being greedy, wanting more than we already have. We must not covet but God tells us only to covet for the best gifts. These are the gifts of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 12:31: But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.
Stay away from the love of money; it is the root of all evil and never satisfies. 1Tim 6:10: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Let us be content and not greedy. Let us enjoy and employ all the riches God blesses us with because life is more than money, clothing and food.
All glory to Jesus Christ, Amen.
