Revelation of Jesus Christ to Apostle John reveals to us the 7 churches. The seven churches represent us – you and me. Which church are you among the 7?
A church is not a building, a place, etc but a person in whom the Holy Spirit is dwelling in. See what a church is
A church is a person baptized with the Holy Spirit. See Baptism with the Holy Spirit
Today a church is a place, a building or a tent and this is a heresy. See protestant heresies today – making buildings churches
Jesus Christ did not die on the cross for buildings, places, etc
Revelation of Jesus Christ to Apostle John reveals 7 churches in which every one of us (Bride of Christ) is one of these churches.
In Part-1 of, we are studying the church of Ephesus.
The 7 Churches of Revelation – Which Church are You? (Part – 1 Church of Ephesus)
The Church of Ephesus
Rev 2:2: I know your works, and your labor, and your patience, and how you cannot bear them who are evil
Church of Ephesus represents people with works, labor and patience in Jesus Christ and they cannot bear evil people. They rebuke sin and cannot bear or be company to evil people.
They know how to test those calling themselves God servants, separating the liars (wolves) from the true servants.
And you have tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars (Rev 2:2)
This church has persevered, have patience and have labored for Jesus Christ and have not become weary or tired
Rev 2:3: And you have persevered, and have patience, and for my name’s sake have labored, and have not become weary.
Nevertheless Jesus Christ has this against the people represented by the church of Ephesus; they have left their first love.
You used to love studying the Bible but you do not study it anymore – you are reading more of facebook, twitter, listen to tv, news, gossip, politics, etc. You have forgotten your first love.
You have been caught up in works, in rebuking sin, in tithing, in laboring for God but you have forgotten to work on your faith as you did before.
You used to be prayerful but today you have no time for prayer because you are busy, tired, etc.
You used to have lone intimate times with God but today you have no time for Him because you are busy running after vanities.
Remember the things you used to love when you first came to Jesus Christ; reading the Bible, praying, working on your faith, helping the needy, etc but today you have left them – you have forgotten your first love.
Remember where you have fallen, repent and go back to first love – doing the things you used to love when you first come to Jesus Christ or else you perish.
Rev 2:5: Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove your candlestick out of his place, except you repent
In addition, people represented by Ephesus church hate the deeds of Nicolaitans.
Rev 2:6: But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
According to Nicolas, it was lawful to eat things sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. This sect loved self-indulgence and loved to conquer people – exercise spiritual authority.
There are people today with the deeds of Nicolaitans. You must hate their deeds as God does.
Jesus says,
Rev 2:7: He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Jesus promises whoever hears and overcomes the things the spirit of God says to the churches, He will give to eat of the tree of life – you must overcome to receive.
Remember your first love, where you have fallen, repent or perish
